About

Hi, I’m Kap (short for Kaspar). I’m a dad. I really love food, and jazz.

I’ve loved the kitchen for as long as I can remember. At two, I’d ask to be lifted onto the counter to wish goodnight to the food processor (the “food process-ess-or”), and at four, I was elated to gift my mom her KitchenAid Mixer.

I wrote a cookbook that provides fully complete, nutritious meals that are relatively easy to prepare and keep well in the fridge or freezer for leftovers. It’s great for anyone who likes to eat great food and cook, but wants time for other things in life, too!

The idea to pair jazz albums with the recipes followed as naturally as syrup on pancakes. My hope is that these recipes offer plenty of great food and music for you and your loved ones.

Why isn’t there an apostrophe in “Dads?”

This became “Dads” cookbook, dads being plural and not possessive, because it’s for the whole community of dads who deserve more resources designed with them in mind. Of course, it’s also for anyone who supports and loves the dads in their lives. I created this book to nourish dads and their families culturally and nutritionally, recognizing the important work dads do in caring for their families.

I’m a cook

My role as chef-dad began by nourishing my pregnant wife and continues as I learn to feed my daughter. I have no formal culinary training but love taking cooking classes when I travel, exploring new grocery stores, and of course, learning from friends and family.
